Support your GIRLS! Moving Comfort Sports Bra giveaway!

Alright men folk, step aside. We need to talk about some womanly issues here.

I'm talking boobs.

Specifically,  sports bras.

Let me tell you, I have run the gamut of breast sizes and running distances in my short 4.5 year running career. I ran my first year of races after having my oldest son at a size DD.  No, I take that back. I was anywhere from a B to a DD, depending on if the little rug rat had recently nursed or not. And for those of you who haven't experienced it, timing out nursing and/or pumping around a race is way more complicated than planning race day nutrition, hydration, or porta potty stops (as my friend Hope is learning!).

But I digress. Back in those days, I didn't know that GOOD sports bras existed.  I DID know that the "sports bra" I bought from the maternity store in the mall was the most pathetic excuse for a "support" that I had ever seen. But besides that, I thought the only thing a running nursing mama could do was double (sometimes, triple, if you count the built in shelf bra on some tanks) up on sports bras.  Apparently, nursing or not, I wasn't alone. We believe that sports bras are an essential piece of equipment for active women, yet 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong size,” said Julie Baxter, vice president of Moving Comfort. Yeah, that would be me.  It wasn't until my second baby that I had heard of Moving Comfort sports bras.  Women of ALL bra sizes were raving about them, as they offer size 32A all the way to 40E, in a full range of styles and support levels. Unfortunately (fortunately??) for me, nursing baby #2 did not have nearly the same effect, and my sad little size small B's could get away with your generic Target or Walmart special (*sigh*).

Needless to say, when I was contacted by Moving Comfort to review their NEW fitting room feature, and the sports bra it suggested for me, I was SUPER excited. Like I said, I've heard nothing but good things about their bras.  So I jumped in to the online "fitting room" (don't worry, no fluorescent lights and gigantic mirrors here!) to see what it had in store for me.

Here is what Moving Comfort says about their fitting room:
The Sports Bra Fitting Room—the first of its kind—is a multi-media, user-friendly, online fitting experience. The Sports Bra Fitting Room is divided into four sections to guide women in finding the best fitting sports bra. Sections include:

- Sports Bra Finder: Women are lead through a step-by-step measuring process, all of which is accompanied by instructional videos. The Sports Bra Finder not only identifies the woman’s size, it also offers suggested styles based on her activity.
- Expert Fit Tips: Identifies common fit issues and offers solutions for troubleshooting through the use of on-body images.
- Anatomy of a Bra: Women can learn about the various components in a Moving Comfort sports bra that work together to provide superior support and comfort.
- Care Instructions: Provides women with all the information they need to ensure they get the most out of her garment.
Here's what I say:
The Virtual Fitting room was super easy to use.
-Step one: grab a tape measure.
-Step two: measure where they tell you to.  Use the videos provided if you need extra help figuring it out.
-Step three: enter your measurements in the boxes provided.  Press enter and voila: you have a bra size.   My only complaint here: my size was MUCH MUCH smaller than I had originally thought, hahaha! But I guess I have to blame my children for that, not Moving Comfort.

Next, you tell the web page what sort of activity you will be doing, low, medium, or high impact, what style you would like (under wire? racer back? seamless?) and BAM. There is your sports bra recommendation.

The Moving Comfort Virtual Fitting room suggested the Alexis Bra for me. I chose the Alexis Print, because the flashier the better, I always say (just look at my collection of neon sneakers).  I'll admit, I didn't read the FULL detail description. Being a *coughcough* A cup means you don't have to be particularly choosy.  So I was surprised to discover that the alexis bra is slightly padded! Yeah, yeah, I know for some of you, the LAST thing you want is added girth. But for those of us that look like little boys when wearing a sports bra,  we welcome the enhancement!!!

I was going to post some stock pictures of models in the bra, but who the heck knows these days what is photoshopped, what is custom fitted for the model for that photo shoot, etc. Reviews are about REAL experiences, REAL women. So here you go: me in my bathroom mirror Alexis Print sports bra glory.

Don't mind the sleepy face, I'm on the end-of-the-semester-exhaustion program

I put the bra to the test today. First, aerobics class, complete with rounds of mountain climbers and lots of jumping. Next, under a polo for a client consultation (yeah, I was sweaty, shhhh). Last, a 3 mile run in 80+ degrees/80+% humidity.

Result? No bouncing. No chafing. No discomfort whatsoever. No dripping wet with sweat. What I was most impressed with is the feel and material of the bra. The DriLayer® Power 88% polyester / 12% spandex fabric feels more supportive, and less likely to stretch out over time like traditional sports bras.

I'll admit, I haven't purchased a sports bra over $10 before, ever.  But noticing how frequently I have to throw out the cheapos, and the DISTINCT difference between those and a Moving Comfort bra, I am officially converted. Moving Comfort sports bras are WORTH the investment.  And so are "girls", what little is left of them anyway, ha!

Love, love the Alexis! Perfect for those who get smooshed completely when using a basic sports bra- yep, that's me! Love not looking like a really tall 11 year old boy ;).

sry, I know this isn't a guy thread but most of us are practical. Ditch the pattern, support the girls and everyone is happy.

That pretty much looks like the perfect bra for me!! Kudos to you for the real life photos!! I tell myself that being small-chested means one less thing to worry about while running.

Moving Comfort is the only brand I have found which will tame my 32DDs. And they are still cute!

I found Moving Comfort by accident in an REI sale. Bought the Fiona and I haven't gone back. The Fitting Room suggested the Fiona for me (phew!) but also a couple other ones. I like the look of the Juno! Fingers crossed I win!

Awesome. I can't wait to check it out. I hear you on the nursing problems. My kids sucked everything out of me and I rely on VS for "help" now. I can get by with a tank with shelve bra now too, but love my 2 moving comfort bras that I have had for AGES. They have held up for over 5 years (they didn't fit while I nad big nursing boobs, but they fit now).

Love that it tells me what styles to choose! I am still nursing so size is time of day dependant.

I have a strong opinion on sports bras. Very few American companies have taken the time to research and manufacture bras to support the breast in a healthy manner. Moving comfort has the right idea, but I have found that bra manufacturers over in Europe are even more advanced. At the London Marathon Expo, there were at least 4 booths solely dedicated to sports bras (complete with diagrams of the breast, computerized modeling, etc.), whereas here in the USA, they are usually just part of another exhibit. Anyway, I will certainly go check out Moving Comfort's online fitting experience because it would be great to have distribution here in the USA of something that worked for me!

Okay, I did it but it said I'm an A cup. I'm going to cry in the corner now. :(

You had me at "padded". I figure I'm definitely in the little boys category when it comes to breast size, so I'm all over this!! Thanks :)

Oh, they do not have a bra that fits my criteria. :(

Cool feature. I really want to try one of the styles the fitting room suggested for me- a racerback that looked like something I could wear without a shirt if I ever get brave enough/hot enough... not easy in a bra supportive enough for a D cup.

Pretty neat. It said Juno was a good bra for me. I enterd on facebook.

Are they still making Alexis??? This has been the ONLY sports bra I've been happy with in years, and now it seems like they're disappearing everywhere!
