(now on with the blog post...)
4 more days in 2009.This year, I raced:
2 full marathons
2 half marathons
5-5k's.
And my training mileage? Let's say it's not NEARLY in the ballpark of where it should be for having run 2 full marathons this year. (daily mile to the right isn't correct, I did, at least, run more than 370 miles!)
oops.
I'm not one for excuses but this time I'll cut myself some slack by pulling the "getting used to a new baby AND two year old, work, and college full time" card.
This excuse expires at 11:59 p.m. on December 31st, 2009.
I am in total awe of people who train for ultra marathons. My friend Tara is currently training for the Rocky Racoon 100 mile race in February. 100 miles in one race. I can't wrap my mind around that idea, nevermind around the fact that she is currently running 90 mile training weeks, while taking care of her kids. While I don't aspire to run a 90 mile week, nevermind an ultra, anytime soon (I won't say never, those ladies are awfully inspiring and their insanity tends to wear off on others...), I would like to increase my mileage in 2010 to be, if nothing else, more consistant.
In a previous post, I made my resolution to take 2010 in stride when it comes to my running, and enjoy whatever challenges are thrown my way without burning myself out. And that resolution still stands, and can still stand while I reach for some super fun goals. So here they are!
-Mileage:
Goal A (the reasonable, attainable goal): 2010 km (that's 1248.96 miles) in 2010
Goal B (still attainable, but don't kill myself trying goal) 2010 miles (that's still 2010 miles) in 2010
- GET IN THE POOL!! (sent my email!)
-GET ON THE BIKE!!
-exceed my goal of raising $1,000 for the Ulman Cancer Fund through TEAM FIGHT!
So, to sum up the 2010 goals.... TRAIN, Heather, TRAIN!!
Anyone want to share their total mileage for 2009 (as of today?)

Heather, how can I donate funds for your cancer challenge?
"XTB" from Hong Kong!
Thanks for asking XTB!! Check out www.active.com/donate/TeamFight2010/heathergannoe to visit my page and make a safe, secure donation directly to the Ulman Cancer Fund. Thank you for your support!
I like the 2010 miles goal. I might have to steal that one. ;) As of today, I have 1737 miles of running for 2009. Haven't added up biking and swimming yet. I should hit 1750 by thursday.:)
I like the 2010 in 2010! Great idea! Today I am at about 1686. I won't make my 1800 for the year but I'll surpass 1700. So I think with better budgeting I can do 2010 as long as I stay healthy. It would make for a great challenge on daily mile!!
Great goals Heather!!
I love your achievements for 2009 as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a great thing to be able to run that much and have a family!!
Go get those goals!
You had quite a year -- be proud of it :-)))
I totally had to grab the calculator and see that it would be 5.5 miles per day for 2010 miles!! Crazy girl!!! Good for you. I am just aiming for 2nd marathon (1st post baby). of course this mean a lot of COLD training in CO. My run yesterday was in 17 degree weather. YIKES!
Thanks Heather. You are an inspiration. I just think you are amazing for all that you manage to do. I am super psyched to see how your Iron Girl training and race go.
I started running (for the first time ever) in April - and didn't start tracking miles until October. So, my mileage count is quite modest. I'm at 122 as of today. Not much, but I sure am proud of those 122 miles!
Just started following you - kudos to us running moms!!!! I, too, ran two marathons this year (my first EVER in Paris, and my second in Rochester.) I have decided to run at least 12 half marathons in the next 12 months. I am now going to add to my goal: 2010 kms in 2010. Thanks for that brilliant idea. Can't wait to follow you through the year (and see what 2011 brings.)
I have 8.3 miles to get to my NEW goal of 1,033, since I am a 3 freak!!
I will be sharing your Giveaway/Raffle over and over and over... Just watch for it.. Hoping to scrap up some cash to donate.
Hugs to meeting your goals, and not stressing about those that don't 100% go to plan, that is the trick to being a Mom/Runner or Runner/Mom. I tend to be the first..
I just donated - My name is Beth
I think I am going to steal the 2010K goal for this year!
I SO need to get into a pool and swim. Thanks for the inspiration!
Great looking goals for next year. and you definitely set you goal to low I think you will exceed that goal within the next week. :) I will be sure to continue posting about your raffle throughout the month
Those sound like great goals for 2010!
Heather,
I am sad to report that I have only managed about 450 miles this year. Last year at this time I had run almost 1800 miles.
I like the 2010 KM or mileage goal. That is very clever.
Happy running in 2010!
Love the 2010 KM goal. I may have to borrow that as I know that I won't be hitting 2010 miles LOL.
I'm at about 1038 for the year, with a goal of 1050.
Good luck with the fundraising!
MCM Mama
Great goals for 2010! I need to increase my miles next year too . . . only 928 for this year. Should have counted sooner and tried to hit 1000. Oh well. :)
What an amazing year you've had, and all the while juggling so many things! Great goals for the year ahead :)
Joining in for the tally: I'm at 1344 miles for 2009 ...
Looks like you're well on your way to hitting your fundraising goal - excellent job!
I have 2010 miles for 2010 also. Yea! I need to make more time for the pool...and yoga...and the bike...and....
You're an inspiration. Thanks!!
Happy New Year!!!
Great goals and I am sure your attitude will carry you through at least one of them!
Great goals ... and attitude! :) I just started training for my first marathon in March and my mileage isn't where it needs to be. Yikes! Off to set my goals ...
Winks & Smiles,
Wifey
You can totally hit goal A! Go for it!
