the "be your own nutrition experiment" 100th post giveaway!

woo woo! 100th post! Yesterday, I ran 18.10 miles. It was a slow 18 miles (9:46/min average) but by gosh it felt almost effortless. If it wasn't for the throbbing leg pain at the very end, I felt like I could have run all day. (non runners, quit rolling your eyes ) I love that, I love realizing how far I've come!

Flash back to 6 months ago. I had been "meaning" to get back to running. It had been 5 months since my second baby was born. And as much as I dreamt of running during the end of my pregnancy, once I was given the "all clear" from the doctors, I just couldn't seem to get myself off my butt and go. Not even a half marathon looming would give me the motivation. Instead, I toed the starting line on zero training, and had the most miserable 13.1 mile experience of my life. Yet, not even THAT disaster got me going. So in March, on a whim, I joined Team FIGHT and made a commitment to fund raise for The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, and run the Baltimore Marathon in October.

That same night I created this blog. Partially as a way to keep my sponsors updated on my progress, but more so to hold myself accountable for my training. I enjoy writing, but I really only expected my mom, sisters, and a handful of other friends to read my ramblings. I never would have imagined that in such a short amount of time, I would have so many awesome readers/followers, and have been given SO many wonderful opportunities, all from this blog. Wrightsocks, HydraPouch (I owe you guys a review on this one...it took me a while to actually get a chance to use it), Pro-Bar, Race-vine, Sugoi (more on that later, I'm very excited about this one!). I even got the chance to share my story and spread the word about the Ulman Cancer Fund thanks to Amy and Tom at the Runner's Lounge. I could probably go on and on, but I hear the "your acceptance speech time is over, get off the stage" music starting to play.

You all have followed me through the ups and the downs of my running, racing, and motherhood; the 15 times I've quit and gone back to mountain dew (just in the last 6 months, ha), vacations, butt callouses, and so much more. But one of my FAVORITE parts of this blog has been the infamous nutrition experiment, a.k.a: What's NOT going to give me "GU" belly! (oddly enough, the GU has been the winner thus far!) So, to honor the documenting of my GI issues (sweet) I've got an awesome giveaway for one lucky reader of RUN FASTER MOMMY:

The lucky winner will get all of this nutrition (I'm even parting with some nuun! I love the nuun!) , including a car magnet from One More Mile with the unofficial Run Faster Mommy! motto: "Running is Cheaper than Therapy". And, because I think it's hysterical, YOU can be the proud owner of the New Balance deodorant pack they handed out post race at the Virginia Beach Rock and Roll half marathon. Were they trying to tell us something? Ha!

Anyway, to enter the contest:
1) Leave a comment. It's that easy!

for additional entries:
2) Follow this blog (on the right hand side of the page under "join me on my adventures!") or tell me that you are already a follower
3) spread the word...post in your blog about this giveaway
4) for 5 extra entries: make a donation, any donation, to my TEAM FIGHT page (only weeks left to do so!)
http://www.active.com/donate/TF2009/heathergannoe

So if you were counting, that's up to 8 chances to win this giveaway and become your own "what doesn't anger my GI tract while running" experiment. Winner will be chosen by random one week from tonight (Sunday the 19th), and will be announced on this blog and notified via email (assuming I can get to your email from your blog!)

Thanks for everything guys, here's to the next 100 posts!

Great 18 miler - 9:46 is awesome over the course of such a long run!!! I am now a follower and I WANT this prize pack. Lots of good good stuff. I need all the nutrition I can get. I just tried the nuun recently and while I wasn't crazy about the taste, I think it helped with the performance.

18 miles...that's amazing! I've been trying to turn myself into a runner for about a year now...I'm determined to get there! I'm doing a 10k in 8 weeks and if that goes well I'm debating a 1/2 marathon in late Jan. These goodies would help me as I venture past the 3 mile mark (which is all I have done so far).

Hi Heather... love your blog, already a follower. I've read your posts re: nuun, and would love to try it, especially if I did not have to pay to try! Nice 18 miler, and remember... the long ones are supposed to be slow! I know... hard to rein yourself in when you feel good, but I think the slow starts are what make the long ones feel good. Good luck w/ the training, and congrats on post #100!

So thrilled that Tall Mom Mel sent me your way!

Nutrition is something that, honestly, I neglect. I make sure I eat well but I don't pay attention to what I SHOULD eat for training or racing.

Congrats on hitting your 100th post!
