There are lots of bugs out here in the woods. But it seems the biggest bite I've recieved is from the tri bug...
Ironman USA was the coolest, most inspiring thing I have ever seen. I have never cheered so loud, nor had my heart race so fast for a complete stranger until I saw some guy cross the finish line in 16:59:59 (the cutoff is 17 hours). I am headed home on Thursday, and after I unpack, sign up for the North Myrtle Beach sprint triathlon in September (my first!), and find some local grown up swimming lessons, I will post pictures, a recap, and the video of that last finisher. Simply AMAZING.
Hope you have all had a great week. I hate to leave this place...

So glad you got inspired! I love it when inspiration strikes.
16:59:59?!?! That's so cool! I'd be cheering him on too!
that gave me chills & brought tears to my eyes; you're a great writer H.Simmions.
p.s. depending on when in Sept. Me & the kids will come cheer you on!
Isn't it amazing how we yell and yell when watching others struggle or almost to the finsih line. The funny thing is, when I am finishing a race or struggling up a hill I don't seem to hear the crowd. I guess I am so focused that I am internally thinking only about my next step. I guess it just makes me feel better to yell and cheer on the other participants, even if they don't hear me.
Uh oh!! I see a name change in the future...
Run, Bike, Swim Faster Mommy!!! Or whatever the Tri order is :)
Can't wait for all the details. Will be good to have you back.
I think I've already said this, but I love your page layout!
It sounds like you had a great time! I'm glad you've been inspired to do a triathlon... how exciting!!
love it! I have recently been bitten by the same bug!
Triathlons are so much fun and everyone seems to always be really happy and supportive at the races (even more so than a running event). I've been thinking about doing one this fall and North Myrtle Beach might be just the ticket! I only live an hour from there and hadn't heard about it yet.
What a cool first tri, being able to race on the beach and swim in the ocean. I'll be with you in spirit, cheering you on. :)
Can't wait to follow your journey, i'll be doing my first on Aug. 23! I watched the live coverage online, and teared up with inspiration so many times. Must have been amazing to be there! Awesome stuff!!!
I look forward to seeing the pictures. ;)
It must have been such and awesome experience! Great job signing up for the sprint tri!!! Very exciting.
I can only imagine how awesome it was watching that! How exciting to have your own tri to train for . . .
I've never been interested in tris, but I do think it would be exciting to be a spectator at an IM.
i'm envious!
